- nanciekiii - 11-15-2006 I am looking for a white wine with a butterscotch flavor that is possibly readily available that does not have to be purchased over the internet - Bucko - 11-15-2006 A good many California Chardonnays fill that bill. The flavor comes from malolactic fermentation and barrel influence. - wondersofwine - 11-15-2006 Some white burgundies also have this characteristic but are generally rather expensive and may not be that readily available. One I liked in the past that had just a gentle butterscotch flavor was a Jean Marc Morey Chassagne Montrachet "Chevenottes." - Innkeeper - 11-15-2006 Hi Nanciekiii, and welcome to the Wine Board. La Crema Chardonnay would have filled the bill last time we had it. It has been a while since we don't care for that style these days. - VouvrayHead - 11-15-2006 One wine that has a very strong butterscotch flavor (to me) is Coppo Moscato D'Asti. It runs around $17 and is worth every penny if you like your bubbles rather sweet. |
