Does anyone have any idea what the type of wine and/or the correct spelling of the wine that Terry Gross's guest on NPR was talking about. He is a columnist/author on wine and stated his favorite wine was Condria (sp?). It is from the Rhone region. Any ideas?

He also mentioned it is an aromatic white wine produced from the viognier grape. That is what it is, from the Condrieu Appellation in the Rhone region of France.
This particular white wine was a favorite of Thomas Jefferson--no slouch was he when it came to wine.

WWW, Welcome on-board! Hope you're also enjoying some of the past postings! As far as your question, my guess would be- Condrieu, which is in the Northern Rhone. They are known for making very lush and wonderfully fragrant Viogniers, (a white wine). Yum!
Also: (There is a topic about Viognier on the board that talks about French over Cali. Viogniers, worth a read if you're interested in this varietal. I sure am!)

Which program on NPR were you monitoring?
I listen to NPR during the late mornings and early afternoons and have not heard much commentary on wine.
I'd be interested in knowing if they have a wine specific program.

I listen to Fresh Air alot. I guess I missed that one.
Most of the time spent with my ear glued to NPR is when I am in the car. Since I work as a courier, a lot of times I am not in the car but clamboring up steps or along sidewalks or laboring to enter elevators.....
But in-between all that, NPR has my ear just about everyday.
