Is there both a White Zinfandel & a Red Zinfandel Wine? If so, is it a dryer wine & does it taste like a red wine or does it taste similar to a White Zinfandel? Is it red in color or blush like the White Zinfandel? Thank you.

Hello,
Zinfandel is and always has been a red grape. Until the 1980s it was always a red wine too--dry, beautiful wine.
White Zinfandel was created to both get rid of a glut of grapes and to appeal to the sweet tooth of America.
There are many real red Zinfandel wines on the market.

Hi LB and welcome to the board. To expand a little on Foodies answer there is only one Zinfandel grape and it's RED. White Zinfandel is made by only leaving the juice of the grapes on the red skins for just a heartbeat. The juice gets only enough color to produce the blush wine you buy as White Zinfandel. Then the fermentation is stopped while there's still sugar in the juice. And, Voila!. A sweet(kinda) wine that appeals to novice drinklers. WW

To go a bit further, White Zinfandel is an abomination, Red Zinfandel is the real thing.

From one newbie to another take my advice, don’t drink the white/blush! I tried Red Zin for the first time a few months ago and trust me it’s a very, very tasty wine.
