My father past away several months ago and my mother recently found a bottle of 1961 Italian wine that my father has held onto.

1961 Frescobaldi Nipozzano Vin Santo

Can anyone tell us if this wine has any value etc....?

Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Foodie, is this a dead wine?

This one probably died about the time Yoko broke up the beatles. The Nipazzano is Frescobaldi's entry level Chianti. At least it is these days. Unless they have changed nameing practices, so was this.

Hello,
as far as i know, Vin Santo is the expression for I(ndicatione)G(eografica)T(tipica) in Italy. the character of these wines are full-bodied and sweet dessert wines
with a relatively high percentage of alc.
Therefor i would give the wine a chance to have survived the years: dessert-wines appeal brilliantly to maturing in bottles if stored correctly.

Hope this could help!
