Need help again!! Took a 66' Lafite Rothschild to a New Years Eve dinner at our club. We had Steak and I was told to bring that wine as oppossed to a 78'Petrus, I was told that it was too sweet a wine to serve with meat. I love Petrus, and was never aware of that. I can only say that I thought that the Lafite (after it was decanted) still should have stayed in the bottle a few mosre years. When do you think I can drink the Petrus and what should I serve with it. Thanks again.

Judyxlv, Join another club. The idiot is a perfect example of a "Lil' Knowledge" syndrome. #1, IMHO the 66 Lafite is just about on the downhill course. The thought that ANY vintage of Petrus is too sweet for a meal is rediculopus. Your intimidator is short on smarts and long on goofy. Can't think of anything that a bottle of any vintage of Petrus wouldn't enhance. WW
