Anne is there on business, and she'd like to visit a shop and put together a case of stuff that's unavailable here in Atlanta. Thanks in advance for any recs!

It's only about 130 miles, right up the 101, to Roberto's shop. I don't know San Diego, but too bad winoweenie didn't know about this before he left for SD. If he doesn't know of a shop there, one doesn't exist.

Winoweenie was the one who sent me to Vintage Wines on Miramar Road. Good selection of California and European wines. Tasting room above. The restaurant above, Aux Delices, has closed I believe, which is too bad because they delivered some wonderful food. I have been to the shop and restaurant twice on visits to San Diego. Website is http://www.vintagewinessd.com. Address is 6904 Miramar, Suite 101. In like a strip mall and not too noticeable from the street. Watch for address numbers and circle back if you miss it the first time by.
The tasting room sometimes offers interesting flights of wine (I had a flight of Italian reds). They change the offerings on Thursday, so the weekend is a good time to visit.

I know -- dummy me didn't even think to ask him until he was already gone!

Thanks, Wonders, for the rec. I've passed along the info to Anne who will visit after her conference/training thingy finishes on Friday night.

I checked out their website -- think I'll ask Anne to put together a Pinot case of stuff like Bergstrom, Brick House, Penner-Ash, Flowers, Failla, DuNah, Summerland, etc. that I have not seen around these parts -- obviously mixed in with some cheapies to dollar cost average down

Again, thanks!

John owns Vintage Wines. It's on Miramar Rd
to be exact 6904 Suite 101 and phone # 858-549 -2112. Guessing she's staying out so the easiest way to get there is take the 805 freeway North to Miramar Rd. go east about 2 miles. When she spots a Carls' Jr. restaurant on her left, get in the left turn lane. and turn in the strip mall immediately on her right. It's located behind, lower floor. Absolutely a great store. WW

Thanks, WW. I passed the info along to Anne, who should visit there tonight.

Anne just got back. When she said she got the rec from you they laughed and said she must be from AZ or GA. Very nice shop and they were very interested, pleasant, and helpful. She put together a mixed Pinot case of the stuff I mentioned above, plus some wines from Daniel Gehrs, Copain, Kosta Browne, and Nicolaysen. I'm pretty excited to try the Bergstrom and Penner-Ash, as I've never seen them around here.

Again, thanks for the rec (and, thanks to Wonders, too!).
