On the way to your Missouri place, stop by Bon Vivant wines in Columbia, IL.
It's about 20 minutes from St Louis City.
A very small store, but an incredible selection of good, interesting wines and good prices.
The store is tiny, yet they manage to have 3 different Bierzos for instance. I was very impressed.

I walked out with the Vouvray I posted on under Loire, a Bierzo, a Foillard single site Morgon that looks killer, and a Montsant I can't wait to try. None of the 4 have I seen in St Louis.

Their website with directions is

Sounds great, and I'm particularly interested in each of the ones you mentioned. We love Spanish Bierzo and Montsant, and Morgon is almost our house red in the summer. Thanks for the tip!

Dan, can you tell me what some of your favorite Morgon are? I loved the bottle I got (posted under Beaujolais).

First off, I've not had a bad '05 Cru or Villages Beaujolais. If you see any lingering on store shelves, don't be frightened off by the "older" vintage. Even though it's Beaujolais, they're still drinking wonderfully. This is especially true if you happen to see any '05 Chiroubles.

As for Morgon, we like Trenel, Duboeuf's Jean Descombes, Laurent Gauthier, and Jean-Jacques Vincent. I'm sure there are others, but that's off the top of my head. The '07s look to be nice, too. Alas, just not as nice as those '05s of which I've enjoyed so many . . .

How 'bout you?

I really haven't had much Morgon before this one. I had a stash of Dubeouf from varying cru I found cheap (I don't remember the vintages) and I liked most of them (I had St Amour, Fleurie, Julienas, and Morgon) and I've had some Cote Brouilly as well, but this bottle was really pretty different.
This evening I read more about Morgon and think I'll be on the lookout for any '05, anything Cote du Py, and any of the "gang of 5."

I'll look for Chiroubles as well. I've not tried that.

Looks like I have something to do this summer besides teach a bunch of sophomores and get ready for the baby!
