Curious to your favorites from "a taste of monterey". We leave tomorrow early am. I truly enjoyed the sampler case I got from them last year at your recommendation.

Logan Sleepy Hallow Pinot; Smith & Hook Cab (actually a blend); Galante Cab, we like the $20 one, but have only seen the $30 and $60 ones on their site lately. Maybe you can drive up the valley to get it.

The Chateau Julien entry level Cab is also nice.

CG, how did the Monterey trip go?

- californiagirl - 04-16-2005

Gorgeous weather and we had a blast. Through a connection, we were able to eat dinner the first night at Sticks at The Links at Spanish Bay. Loved the Galante Cab! (I believe I had the Red Rose Hill.) Dinner was excellent, grilled salmon over wild rice and asparagus w/garlic & caper butter. Kids had pb&j, hubby had filet mignon.
Went shopping in Carmel, strolled the beach- (way too cold and windy there). Went to the aquarium.
Hubby and I are going to make a second trip this summer sans kids so we can do grown up things!

I meant to ask -- did your kids get to see the great white shark?

- californiagirl - 04-17-2005

No, and they were bummed. It got released about 10days b/4 we got there. They've increased there hands on and young children oriented exhibits. (It's the area to avoid if you want to get away from the crowds.) My boys loved the tide pool areas - they got to touch sting rays, a small shark, a type of crab, starfish, and a few other things.

The touch exhibits are great for kids but I'm partial to the sea otter exhibit, the moon jellies (fabulous display) and the aviary.

We're off to Monterey again... w/kids. Staying at a kid friendly hotel- 2 rooms. Right at the state park beach right b/4 17 mile drive. Be back on Thursday!!!

CG the next time you go up look at the Andriel Fireplace Motel. It's in the same area as you stayed and each cottage has a nice kitchen, Living Room, Bedroom and as the name suggests a fireplace in the living room. It's rite behind the state park on the ocean. WW
