I will be making wine for the first time this fall. I do, however, like to be prepared. Even though I have someone to show me how to make wine properly (he makes a very good, drinkable wine- not overpowering, high octane, death juice), I would like to read up on the process beforehand so that I have a clue and do not get a severe case of information overload. What book(s) would you recommend? Thank You.

I'll do a little research and get back to you. JDM

Packrat,

Philip Wagner's "Grapes Into Wine" is a great start.

I'm told by someone who's really into it that "the classic" is a book titled Art of Winemaking, By Stan Anderson...and it's only $5

Same source also recommends "Winery Technology and Operations, A Handbook for Small Wineries," if you want something more technical. I'll have to research the price on that one if you're interested.

The Wine Trader Book Services offers virtually any wine title in print (and some that aren't) at (800) 845-9463 or winetrader@aol.com

Good luck in your future enterprise.
