I'd just bought a white wine from Argentina by Tierra Del Fuego. But the colour seems very dark yellow, almost like golden colour. Is that normal? The vintage was 2004. If it's bad then I'll return it. Please help!!

It's unusual for a two-year old white wine to have that dark a color but it depends on the variety of grape and other things. It may be oxidized or it may be okay. You might take it back to the shop unopened and ask the opinion of the owner or manager.

Thanks for your fast reply. It was a blanco but all the wines in the shop have that colour. Actually the colour is more like the colour of urine. Do Argentina white wines usually have different colour from the other kinds of white wine?

You have not described the wine at all except that it is supposed to white and is light yellow. It could be because of the type of grape or grapes which you have not identified. Some white wine grapes do make a wines in various shades of yellow or gold.

Not all white wines from Argentina are yellow.

Tierra del Fuego is one of the brands of Jacques and Francois Lurton - the Ernest and Julio of France. The TdF winery makes two wines from Argentine grapes - one called Red and one called White. The White is made from Chenin Blanc, Torrontes and Tokay Fermunt. It should be drunk very young, before it ages too much.

Thanks Kcwhippet!! You're right, it was by Lurton and the wine was Mendoza 2004. So does this wine usually has a darker colour than the others?
