I had a glass of this ($12) Greek white wine with lunch at Molyvos Restaurant in Manhattan to go with dish of three traditional Greek spreads and pita bread (tzatziki, caviar spread, and eggplant spread). Also had small bites of Spanakopita (spinach, feta cheese in phyllo wrap).

The Assyrtiko, from Santorini, was almost colorless looking down at it but a pale burnished gold from sideways view as it picks up light from the light fixtures. Faint nose. Crisp, pleasant wine without a lot of definition. Seemed rather pricy for what it was.

Indulged in a dessert of Ravani (almond vanilla cake with orange/lemon cream) and a pour of 20-year Cockburn Tawny Port (one of my favorite Tawny Port producers).
The Port was middle to dark amber color--maybe a toffee color would describe it.
Nuts and prunes on the nose. Warming but not hot. Nutty flavors and more prune on the palate. I did feel the alcohol burn if I held the Port in my mouth for a bit. It wasn't quite as good a match to the almond cake as I thought it would be because the cake was more spongy and liquid soaked and not like a more solid almond tart.

Hate it when the name of the wine is longer than the finish.WW
