Ruffino Riserva Ducale Chianti Classico (NOT the gold label) 1999 vintage. Anyone know where to get some?

- Innkeeper - 07-26-2006

If you go to www.wine-searcher.com you will find that the Wine Commune in Berkley has it for $44.99.

You are absolutely my personal hero for this week... maybe the whole month! I've been trying to find that for almost 3 years. Thank you!!!

Ah drat... so close. I didn't notice the "Oro" at first. That's a more expensive variety.

I'll have to take back the hero status, but I will at least give you credit for getting closer than anyone else has been able to.

Check out this site: http://www.winezap.com/search/searchResults.cfm?r=633814&searchtext=Chianti+Classico+1999+Riserva+Ducale

There seems to at least one choice that is not the gold label. It is $40 from a wine shop in Washington DC.

Well at least I know I'm doing good searches. Found that one, called, and they were actually sold out.

Though after further researching, I've found that most people don't feel the standard tan label is much of an ager, which is probably why I'm finding it impossible to locate. The gold label however, has historically been fit to age for 10 to 15 years - maybe longer. So I think I may break down and get a couple of the gold and hang on to them for a few years and see what she thinks. Who knows, maybe she'll like them even better! Thanks again for your efforts Innkeeper.
