I decided to try another wine from Montes out of Chile. This one is 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Carmenere.

When first opened, the balance seemed out of whack. I double decanted and waited for a while(almost an hour). The nose now has some good dark fruit, some barnyard, espresso, and something I can't quite put my finger on. The palate matches well with the nose.

This is a big wine; one that makes you smack your gums. The finish is not quite as long as I would like, although it's not lacking. And there is something bitter at the end. But all that bitter component does is make me want to take another drink. This is the type of wine that you are truly sorry when the bottle is finished.(Like all wine isn't) Oh, the cost tonight at a local shop was $13. The next one up the list is the Alpha at $19. I can't wait.

I'm replying to myself; how pathetic. But.... my wife just tasted this and didn't care for it. I've finally found something I can bring in the house without having to worry it would disappear. However, women's palates are much better than men's or so I've been told. So take everything I said with a grain of salt.
