1999 Chateau Calabre Montravel

Montravel is a small appellation just south of Bordeaux. I am not sure of the grapes, but the notes I have on Montravel say the whites tend to be made from the same as Bordeaux blanc.

Virtually water clear, just a hint of yellow. Big grapefruit on the nose (like grapefuit juice, it makes you salivate and makes you want to drop a few shakes of salt into it), hints of mineral and possibly floral notes. Big acidic grapefruit on the palate with a soft, sweet twist. Long acidic finish.

Very refreshing wine. This one would be a great apertif or one that would be great sitting out on a shady porch at the end of a hot day. At 10 bucks, its worth the drink. Imported by Robert Karcher (if any of your shops deal with his company).

Barnsey, looks like the wine is a blend of Semillion, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadel (50-40-10). Sounds like a nice cup of juice! See the vigneron's products at http://www.chateaudirect.com/Puy-Servain.html
