First of all let me say that I know nothing about wine. But I would love some info on a bottle that I have. I'll try not to look like an idiot by typing everything that is written on the bottle, but it boils down to: Bottled for R.H. Macy & CO INC. by Gaston Charpentier. It is vintage 1952. The label also has the term " Appellation Controlee" on it. A friend of mine thinks R.H. Macy is Macy's Dept. Store. (???) It is a bordeaux. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Evie and welcome to the board.I'm pretty sure your friend hit the bottle on the head when he said it was imported by Macys'. I think you've misspelled the type of wine howm-so-ebber. I think what you have is a Rhone wine produced by the venerable house of Chapoutier. This could be a marvelous experience. Suggest you sit the bottle upright for 2 days before opening it to let the sediment settle, carefully open it, (invite me over to decant and taste it) and maybe, 'jes maybe, you'll have one of those sock-rolling drinking experiences. And before you ask, the value is low because of the provenence of the bottle. Good Luck!! WW
