- dananne - 10-28-2004 Greek wine from the Xinomavro grape. Color of Burgundy, nose of cherry and a touch of smokiness. Medium body, with nice cherry fruit subdued by a wall of dusty tannins. Not a bad wine, it would go better with food. 12% alc. Paid about $11 locally. FWIW, Wine & Spirits gave it a 90. A bit high in my estimation, but the tannins may fade a bit given a few years, making it a bit rounder. I'll likely get it again and give it a few years. I like exploring, and Greece is fertile ground. Wish I had a better selection of Greek wines to explore, but choices are limited in Atlanta. - Innkeeper - 10-28-2004 Have enjoyed this wine many times over the years. Unfortunately, even in allegedly Greek venues, it is the only one available. There is a world of wonderful Greek wine out there. - Thomas - 10-28-2004 IK, you have to move back to NYCity. It is almost awash in good Greek wines these days. |
