One of my favorite wine shops is offering this for $6.99 per so I picked up a few.
Very tight at this stage. Opaque black regal purple, teeth staining. Muted nose of dark berry, tar and hints of vanilla. Still very tannic with subtle fruit flavors and more emphasis on the tar and vanilla also some licorish notes. The wine seems a little disjointed and I suspect it needs some more time. I drank it alone but I suspect a good steak would have helped it show better. 14.2% Alc/vol.

Drew,

The Concannon PS usually takes awhile to show its stuff. We had an 85 from 3 liter this past spring at a cookout with 12 people. The unanimous consensus was that it was a beautiful wine that had survived its age wonderfully. As MS says, it was a good thing.

Any idea how or why Drew's favorite wine shop is giving the stuff away? Has the CA. wine glut problem kicked into high gear?
