Sweet Leapin' Lazarus, this stuff is amazing! I'm not a huge fan of meads, possibly because there are a bunch made here in the NW but I remembered Lurgashall from my teenage days in London, when my uncle would sip the odd glass before the fireplace. Rep from Click Imports in Seattle came out and poured their Reserve for me yesterday. The stuff is 20% Scotch whiskey - fairly good Scotch, from what I tasted - and is aged in Scotch barrels. The honey flavor is light, clean, and crisp and it has a nice little acidity to it, which most WA meads don't. The Scotch flavors are distinct and woodsy, with a heather note that's lovely up the ol' retronasal passage. It's medium-bodied and finishes long. I'm buying this stuff by the case and I already have two orders for cases, just based on the scant two ounces the rep left in the bottle. If you get a chance to try this, whatever your attitude toward meads, DO IT.

Price?

One of my local haunts sells Lurgashall mead but not the reserve and it's $16 for a .375.

My abject apologies. It's the "Tower of London" Lurgashall, not the Reserve. And it'll sell at VinElla for about $25. Scarce, though.
