Got to try 4 Montes releases tonight at one of my favorite wine stores and wanted to keep the notes together.

'99 Montes Cabernet Sauvignon 13% Alc/vol $7.99. Very nice fruit forward Cab with nice body and flavors of ripe and bright plum. Very smooth and drink me now.

'00 Montes Cabernet "Apalta Vineyard" 13.7%Alc/vol 10.99. 70% Cab and 30% Carmenere. Deeper and richer than the '99 above. Richer plum and chocolate flavors and fine grained tannins kick in on the nice finish. A good buy.

'00 Montes Alpha Syrah 14%Alc/Vol $16.99 Dark in the glass and muted nose. Nice syrah flavors, international style, with spice and bitter chocolate on the finish. Nice but I think better out there at this price.

'99 Montes Alpha Cabernet Sauvignon 14%Alc/vol $13.99. My wine of the tasting. Rich, dark, complex dark fruit and dark chocolate flavors with rustic tannins start and end, with a long finish. Nice acidity and balance. Should be a good ager.
