pulled a bottle of 2003 Tobin James Cab Franc to accompany this spicy bowl. Deep purple, lots of spicy black and red fruits on the nose. Married well with the chilli and the 15.2% alc wasn't a factor. Both the dish and the bottle helped warm these ole bones. Would be unfair to try putting a score. Good stuff tho. WW

Don't know why you need your bones warmed. It's not too bad down where you are. Just be glad you don't have the weather hotwine is getting.

Wouldn't want to be traveling, but we're not having any real problems yet. But nearly busted my butt an hour ago on ice covering the sidewalk that leads to the greenhouse (winecellar is beyond that). And getting up the sloped driveway would probably be impossible right now. Time to just sit tight.

I'll drink to sitting tight....or standing tight, laying tight, or reclining tight....Pass the bottle bubba. WW

Yeah, tight with another Rosenblum Syrah tonight, with BEEF stew (yum). Have lost power three times in the last two hours.... candles at the ready. Still 31F with sleet.

No precip here, but it's 19 heading for 7. Brrrr.

OK, the weather got to us today. Had no problems through yesterday, but today we tried to leave around 1:30 pm and found our 150' driveway a skating rink. So we had to do a lot of calling around. Finally found a guy from Dover who could sand and salt it. He showed up around 3:30 pm, did a good job and charged us $40 for it. Compared to what many others around this state and others have had to face, we escaped fairly easily this time (so far).

I was visiting my folks in St. Louis last week.
We were without electricity or heat for 2 and a half days.
We chopped some firewood and heated at least a couple of rooms with the fireplace.
We pioneers also went through a good case of wine including the '98 Dom. (If only the Donner party had some of that on hand... err. no pun intended.)
I was shocked just how uncomplex the n/v Egly seemed afterwards. Not a fair comparison, but still...
Excellent wine and a very memorable weekend.
