Any good wine come from this place? I just bought a bottle of Syrah on a whim.

Three come to mind right away.

Jesse's Grove - Wonderful Zin
Peirano Estate - Nice Zins
Jewel - Nice value wines esp. Petit Sirah

This Syrah comes from one called Turner Road. I'll let you know what I think once I taste it.

I did just read in two books that the area is best known for producing good Zinfandel.

We do like the Jessie's Grove Zins a lot.

2003 Turner Road Syrah, from Lodi. Very fruity, tastes like grapes! Under the sweet concord flavor is oak, leather, and the finish is peppery. I don't think I've ever tasted a Syrah so fruity and sweet, but still with an overall dry flavor. Not bad for an $8.99 bottle of wine. BK 88.

I really like Za Zin from Patrick Campbell/Laurel Glen. Made from old vines in Lodi, reasonably priced. Yummy, and shows what Lodi grapes can do in the right hands.
