Jeff has changed his grape source for his Duriff to this McDowell Valley Vineyard edition. He said the old source had quit using good farming tactics. If this bottle is any barometer then he made a wise choice. Inky purple. Shy nose. Explosive fruit on the palate with meaty, smoky, earthy nuances. Big entry, weighty center, and a solid 4 lapper finish. Needs another 3-6 to develop the aromatics. Killer juice with ANY hearty dish. 90/92 18 as a wine club selection less 20%. 12.5% alc. WW

Opened this for lunch today and the nose has opened slightly. Have had these bottlings going back to the killer 78 and find they always need at least 10 to show thier tail-feathers. Still mity tasty juice especially if you like like 'em long and strong. Will look in agin next year. No change in scoring. WW

Had this tonight with sausage, mixed bell peppers (red, green, yellow), spirelli pasta. Vey nice indeed. Still very tannic and throwing considerable sediment but two hours of decanting helped a lot. Good backbone with bright red fruit. European-style with only 12.5% alc/vol, club price.
