Just thought I'd put a little note in here, so I can come back later, and note the wines I just got. The maker of the wine worked 14 years with Clos Du Bois, with his last position being Assistant Wine Maker. Anyway, before he left, he made these wines on his spare time at the winery, and slapped his own label on them. The label is kind of cool, has boxer shorts on them...Well, from what I understand, they have the same juice that is in Clos Du Bois' Appellation Series. They are all corked with Clos Du Bois corks, and are not foiled. I wonder if I should melt wax over the top of the bottle. Any reasons why I shouldn't? Also, I'm kind of excited to try them. Not sure if I should celler them either...In any event, 2 were 2000 Merlot, 1 2000 Pinot Noir, 1 1999 Zin, and 1 1998 Zin.

Hi Sharktang. The wines should probably cellar without the wax for the 2-3 they need. You mite want to plan on drinking the 98 Zin a little earlier. WW

Thanks for the cellaring advice WW. So I popped the 2000 Pinot last night. It was very good. Thought it tasted more like a Zin then a Pinot. At first taste it was a tad rough around the edges, but smoothed out and really came alive after I let it decanter some more. I guees thats my trouble, I want to open the bottle and drink it right away, KNOWING I should let it breathe a little more then I let it. Anyway, I guess in theory it was a Clos Du Bois, I'm thinking that this wine would be a good buy for me in the future. Just thought I'd share my thoughts. I only hope to get more flowery with my critique of wines as I grow in my love of this nector of the gods...

I don't drink too many California chardonnays any more but I did sample a few at the Pinehurst Wine Festival. The wine voted as favorite white wine this year was a Clos du Bois single-vineyard chardonnay. I voted for a Clos du Bois chardonnay as my favorite white of the festival but it was Alexander Valley I believe, not the single-vineyard one.
