This Merlot blends fruit from 4 different S. Oregon vineyards in the Umpqua and Rogue Valleys.

Deep color, bordering on purple. Aromas of blackberries and blueberries, with the fruit flavors framed by elements of coffee, toffee, and the mineral earthiness that Abacela wines are known for showing. I've tried many, many wines from this winery through the years, and I've yet to find a clunker. Frequently I have to jump through hoops and/or special order the wines, as they can be difficult to find in this market. Sometimes the prices creep a bit, but I can't complain about that on this one -- we bought it for all of $8 at the local Kroger supermarket that I've talked about in the favorite wine stores thread. The retail should be about 3X that price. At that price, we'll probably clean them out and use it as a house wine for the time being. Hee hee! Life is good. 13.9% alc.
