- Bucko - 09-07-2003 2000 Snoqualmie, Merlot, Reserve, Columbia Valley, Washington, $23, 1,000 cases. Somewhat reticent on the nose, blackberry scents were eventually coaxed out. Medium in weight with crisp acids, the tannins have been well-harnessed. Blackberry and currant fruit is augmented by spicy oak that is not overblown. There is a sense of more to come with a little bottle age. 88+/90+. - wondersofwine - 09-08-2003 Glad to see your review, Bucko. This is one I tasted and liked last April but have not seen in the stores to purchase. - winoweenie - 09-10-2003 Glad you're back Buck-snort. Will see if my local pusher has this dude in the bin.WW - stevebody - 09-10-2003 I've said it for years: Probably because she works for the Stimson juggernaut, Joy Anderson is the mots overlooked winemaker in WA. I LOVE her wines. They're soft and supple but true to their varietal character. The only mistake I ever thought she made was that God-Awful Vin de Pays Syrah she turned out a couple of years ago. Couch Potato wine all the way. Everything else - even her new off-dry Rose - right on! |
