We stopped at one of favorite spots last night for dinner. It is the Watherfront Restaurant in Camden (just picture it!). Bev had a hunk of sauteed salmon fillet impaled on a Greek salad, and I had a pasta of sauteed fresh Maine native shrimp (this is the season), wild mushrooms, roast yellow pepper, and freeze dried tomatoes on linguini. Washed it down with a 2001 Oak Knoll Pinot Gris, Oregon ($22 or $10 retail). Other than both the waitperson and the bar person both wanting to bring/provide a Pinot Grigio instead, we got it to the table and open. It was delightlful. Full bodied and complex, weighing in at 13.5% alcohol; it provided a perfect accompaniment for both of our dishes. Right after ordering I wondered if big bother pinot noir might have been a better choice, but little sister gris did just fine thank you.

If you get a chance, try the WillaKensie PG. It is one of my favs.
