Popped a 1997 Belle Pente, Willamette Valley, Maresh Vineyard, Pinot Noir last night. The typical pinot garnet color was crystal clear. Black cherries upfront were followed by balanced acid and a suggestion of oak. The lingering finish helped the compatibility with the grill panned pork chops. This is a combo, pinot and pork, that many of you seem to agree with. The chops were olive oiled and sprinkled with Penseys' Pork Chop Seasoning on one side, and olive oiled and sprinkled with Penseys' Bay Leaf Seasoning on the other. Mmmmm good.

IK, What a kerincidence! Marinated some 2in. pork center fillets for two days in orange & lemon juice from the trees in mine back-yard with Garlic, mustard and Penzeys Pork and Herbs de Provence and opened a bottle of 93 Hedges " Red Mtn Reserve " (68 cab-32 merlot). Bucko, Issaquah shud be proud. A marvelous bottle that has improved so much in the last 2 that I`m amazed. I`ll review in proper thread. winoweenie

ww, that Hedges Mtn Reserve rings a fine bell with me. Back when I sold for a wholesaler, we carried Hedges. I won a sales competition and was rewarded with some bottles of that wine plus a trip to Hedges. Just recently opened the last bottle--supoib juice.

Foodster, Was pimped on the Hedges by a close friend who lives in Seattle. Have bought every year since 93. Amazing juice. winoweenie

The Red Mountain appellation turns out very good quality grapes. The winemaker just has to leave them alone for the most part.....

Bucko, I swear you`ve got to come in from the fog more often. Do your winemakers have to really live mit `der grapes in Wash? WW
