We had a nice visit at Tamarack last summer during the offline, but this one was purchased locally. This Columbia Valley blend is 49% Cab, 23% Syrah, 15% Merlot, 9% Cab Franc, and 2% each of Sangiovese and Carmenere. Gets the name from the fact that the winery is housed in the old WWII fire station and barracks in Walla Walla. Deep crimson color with purple flashes. Nose of red and dark fruits and some coffee. Lush mouthfeel, with round fruit flavors, both red and dark, licorice, toffee, and a spicy finish that picks up a bit of oak. Pretty complex for the $, which was about $15. Easy to drink now with well integrated tannins and forward fruit, but there is an earthy note present that I can only say "tastes like Washington." I mean that in a good way. Alc. % not noted, or if it is, I can't find it anywhere.
