2003 Hermann J. Wiemer, Semi-Dry, Johannisberg Riesling, Finger Lakes ($16 at Winery). Alcohol level 11.5%. As we recall the R.S. on this is around 1.4%. We destroyed two (and only) bottles of this tonight with family, fresh haddock baked with Morney sauce, green beans almondine, and Italian flat bread.

Absolutely fantastic. Get some.

2004 Same price, 11.5% Alcohol. Very much like a Rheingau Spatlese. Offered a terrific nose that included green apples and grapefruit that also carried over to the tongue tip. Lovely sweetish FL complexity that includes lots more fruit across the palate and a lingering finish.

We picked up two bottles in Utica last fall, and popped them tonight with chicken smoked over peach chips, green beans and potato salad. Others had baby peas and pasta salad.

A couple of the glasses from the first bottle were a little bit spritzy, but other two glasses were not, and no spritz out of the second bottle. Not sure what was going on here. The taste did not vary at all.
