- MellyWolf - 07-29-2000 What are some good wines to serve with Cajun style foods such as seafood, jambalaya, etouffe, ect.? - Jackie - 07-29-2000 Hi Melly, I found quite a few suggestions for you by using the "search" feature (see top right of this page). Type in "Cajun" and select "All Forums". I won't repeat what is there... you'll find some good ideas, I think. This is just a starting point, of course. I'm sure you'll get more recommendations. Jackie - winoweenie - 07-29-2000 Hi Mellywolf and welcome to the board, I`ve always favored Zinfandels with the high spice of Cajun and Mexican foods. The massive fruitiness seems to tame and marry with the spices. Conversely, the spice and melange of flavors in Cajun dishes seem to negate the high alcohol in the zins. Beer `aint bad either. Winoweenie. - winecollector - 07-30-2000 Funny, but we are entertaining company today from Toronto, Canada, and El Salvador with cajun deep fried turkeys. Our usual wine of choice is a nice chianti, such as Gabbiano, though a Portugese Dao red or a Spanish Rioja would also go well. Just all depends on how hot and spicey you like it! - Innkeeper - 07-30-2000 All great recommendations. MellyWolf, if you take Jackie's suggestion and do the search, please don't click on my prior posting. It's a little, ah, 'er, embarassing. - winoweenie - 07-30-2000 IK, Mellywolf may not pay attention, but you can bet your sweet Bippie one of us will.(Snicker) Winoweenie - MellyWolf - 07-30-2000 Thanks everyone for the great suggestions! I will go with the most suggested wine listed which is the fuller bodied wines such as a nice Zin. Thanks again! - winoweenie - 07-31-2000 REDS LIVE!!!! winoweenie [This message has been edited by winoweenie (edited 07-31-2000).] |
