2006 Shelton Vineyards, Yadkin Valley Riesling, NC ($12.00). Alcohol level: 10.7%. Tech data: Riesling 95%, Viognier 5%, pH 3.26, TA .72, and RS 3.09%. This makes it an off dry well balanced wine.

Shelton Vineyards is an easy 2 ½ miles off I-77, exiting a few miles south of the NC Visitors Center where you can pick up a guide to NC Wines. There are many off of I-77 between the State Line and Charlotte.

It gives you peaches and apples on the nose and tongue tip. There is more but complex fruit, some minerality, and the expected sweetness with a hint of mint in the middle, and a lovely lingering finish.

It matched very well with a pork and veggie stir fry with brown Basmati rice. It all made for a very nice Thursday night.
