2000 Manatawny Creek Winery, Pennsylvania, Pinot Grigio ($10). Picked this up at the Mushroom Soup and Wine Tasting at the Mushroom Festival in Kennett Square, PA last September. After much soup and much wine, this was one of two bottles, we carried away with us. Popped it this afternoon after a day touring some of our favorite spots along the coast with friends. It turned out to be an excellent quaffer. In addition the nice varietal character it contained a good dose of residual sugar. Finished very nicely as well. The RS made it an out of the ordinary PG. Can easily imagine it with grilled sea scallops with a sweet sauce on them, and similar dishes. Like all Pennsylvania wines, you have to go there to get it, but if you are ever in the neighborhood of Douglassville, PA; drop in and taste their wines. We think you will bring this one and others home with you.
