Who bought out the Taylor Vinyards in NY and are they still producing? Looking for sauternes, lake country reds and golds and the like.

- Thomas - 11-12-2000

Taylor was taken over by Canandaigua Wine Company. I am not sure which of the labels they still produce. Go to nywine.com.

Foodie,
How are they? K

- Thomas - 11-13-2000

CCK, if you mean the wines, I'd rather not hurt anyone's feelings.

CCK, WOW! What a new stance from the Food-Man. Guess a license does mellow one out . winoweenie

WW, you found me out--left myself wide open for that one! OK: the wines are terrible.

Just sitting here smiling, sipping on a Prelude Special Ale from The Shipyard Brewing Company.

- mrdutton - 11-13-2000

Right-on. The company has an interesting web-site............

Taylor New York State Wines......... and Cold Duck seem to come to mind within seconds of each other........

YUCK!!

- Thomas - 11-15-2000

I believe the Cold Duck we all remember was named Andre--a Canadian product, if memory serves.

Take heart: the Canandians have come a long way since.

- mrdutton - 11-15-2000

Yes Andre does come to mind, but I thought there was also a Taylor New York State Wine version also............

However, my memory has been so contaminated with tannin that it may not be clear.

- Innkeeper - 11-15-2000

Yes Virginia, there was a Taylor one.
