Had a bottle of this for dinner last night. Never had a red wine that tasted so good. Was a gift. Can anyone give me some info on this and approx. cost as I wouldn't mind trying some more!

First-off, welcome to the Wine Board! Glad to hear you liked the wine, but I am a bit surprised that a Beaujolais-Villages would have lasted 9+ years!

I checked Wine Searcher (www.wine-searcher.com) and could only find Drouhin Beaujolais-Village from 1996 forward. This is what I expected.

I really did not expect to find any that old for sale on the open market (bear in mind that Wine Searcher is not omnipotent).

This wine is generally produced to be drunk young and as soon as it is released. Although some of the Crus Beaujolais can be cellared successfully, I've not heard any accounts of the Appellation Beajolais-Villages holding up well to age, until this one.

You should easily be able to get a more recent vintage Beaujolais-Villages in the $10.00, or somewhat less, price range.

I would see if you can find a 98 or 99 Beaujolais-Village made by Louis Jadot. They are pretty common and very good.
