One of the few 2003 wines I've tasted. Imported by Vineyard Brands of Birmingham, AL. 12.5% alcohol From the Cote de Nuits region of Burgundy, France, the grapes are Pinot Noir.
Domaine Bruno Clair is considered a benchmark producer of Marsannay wines. I wasn't sure about this vintage since Europe had such extremely high temperatures during the summer of 2003. Wines might lack the structure of normal vintages.
Pale red color with tints of orange or coral, clear.
Strawberry nose and flavor on the palate. Lacking body, almost sweet. Probably not a typical vintage but still a pleasing quaffer that might attract those who prefer non-dry wines or the lighter reds and rose' wines. I had it with cheddar cheese and with Cornish hen with cranberry chutney. I may order two more bottles for a wine tasting I hope to hold this fall--this might be popular with those not into heavier red wines.
