- crjennings64 - 12-27-2005 Hello! This is my first time using this discussion group. I am just dying to drink the Heitz MV 1991 that I have. It has been stored fairly well (50-60 degrees) - and I'm just praying that it is still okay. My question is what to pair it with. I hear it is a bit minty, but with 15 yrs of aging... Will lamb be too strong, or should I go with something like beef/steaks? Any ideas? Has anyone had the '91 recently that might be able to give me some suggestions, and/or how it is aging? I have a few weeks to plan. Thanks, Catherine - winoweenie - 12-28-2005 Hi Kat aand welcome to the board. IMHO the best pairing with the 91 Marthas' would be a nice rare to medium rare steak. This vintage doesn't have the amount of eucalyptus found in many of the bottlings of the 60s, 70s, and middle 80s. It's a superb cab and think you'll enjoy yourself. Good Luck. WW - crjennings64 - 12-28-2005 Hi- Thanks for the suggestion. So, do you think a simply prepaired rack of lamb (rosemary... not mint!) would be to overwhelming for the wine? I've had a few folks from another forum suggest lamb... anyway, would love your thoughts on this! Thanks again! - winoweenie - 12-28-2005 A simple roasted rack would work, it's just I prefer a simple rare strip with older cabs or nothing at all. WW |
