I was excited about trying this Cote du Rhone Rose at a restaurant last night to accompany pastitsio (sp?)--a Greek pasta dish with macaroni, ground beef and bechamel sauce. The price per glass was good (for this restaurant) at under $5. The color (under dim restaurant lights) appeared to be a brilliant light red, maybe garnet. The bouquet was enticing, full of raspberries, with maybe some blackberries mixed in. However, the flavors of the wine were disappointing and not in line with the nose.
It seemed flat and out of balance with maybe too much acidity or tannins (tasted a little bitter). Has anyone else had experience with a Cote du Rhone rose? The food was better in this case with a nice Greek salad and yummy pastitsio (even have leftovers for tonight).

Since you bought it by the glass, and it seemed bitter, Wow, maybe the bottle had been open a tad too long.

Yeah, I guess that's a possibility. It really came as a surprise that the berry fruits in the bouquet vanished in the taste.
