This could probably go in the NY section, too, but here goes...

This past weekend a Hudson Valley Wine Festival took place in Red Hook, NY (although the majority of wineries represented was from the Finger Lakes -- Standing Stone, Fox Run, Atwater, Chateau Lafayette Reneau, among others). One booth was kind of a catch-all representative of various NY wineries, and it happened to have the Logan Ridge Estates 2001 Rose of Sangiovese on hand, which happened to win the Best Blush Wine in the recent NY Governor's Cup.

Being curious and a fan of good rose -- and due to the warm weather -- trying it was a no-brainer. The verdict: a delicious, refreshing wine, near dry, with a beautiful rasberry nose (and color), along with nice strawberry and rasberry notes in the palate. Perhaps a bit dear at $12.99, but I can see why it took the Cup!

Cheers,

Sounds like one I would enjoy. Doubt that I will see it in North Carolina, however.
