- wondersofwine - 08-02-2007 Retails for about $13 to $16 in some places. 12.8% alcohol Described on label as semi-sweet. Pale straw color. Off dry, very pleasant sipper as an aperitif or dessert wine. Pear and white peach notes on nose and palate along with clover honey. Seems low in alcohol although it is several percentage points higher than many Rieslings. I would rate in high 80's as a very good wine. I actually found it hard to stop sipping it once I tasted that first sip. - Kcwhippet - 08-06-2007 You might also try the Dry Creek Vineyard Dry Chenin Blanc. Very much a Loire style made with zero oak, so it's all about the fruit. Similar notes to yours for the Elyse, but I also get some pineapple and a flowery hint on the palate. Alcohol's about 12.5%. - wondersofwine - 08-06-2007 Thanks for the suggestion KC. I have also liked a Chenin Blanc we tried from Clarksburg, CA. It may have been a Kosher wine. Clarksburg is somewhat in the vicinity of Sacramento. - Kcwhippet - 08-06-2007 Clarksburg is where DCV gets their Chenin Blanc fruit. |
