I've often ranted a bit about rising alc levels and raved about Sonoma outfit Harvest Moon's approach, particularly with their Pinot, of picking earlier and producing a balanced, delicate, intense wine. I just got my '07 Pinot shipment from them, and I immediately glanced at the alc: 12.3%. I'm guessing there are few other Cali PN that come in at that level. For anyone who might say that's likely to taste underripe, just give it a try at some point.

On a related note, they also shipped a single-vineyard Dry Creek Cab. It's 12.8%.

Hat's off to 'em, Dan.... that's certainly unusual for a left coast producer. Haven't tried 'em but will look 'em up. Thanks.

If you saw any of my posts on Santa Cruz Mtn pinots they normally come in at 12.5% WW

That's why I said "few" and not "none."

I'm guessing that's also why both SCM and HM Pinots tend to both age so gracefully. I've read some of your SCM tasting notes for older vintages, and they're very much like what I've experienced with older HM Pinots. If I'm not mistaken, often Swan comes in comparatively low, too, and they're also very much ones to age a bit.
