Met Better Half and some of her lady friends at her gallery downtown last night for pizza and wine (2000 Bertani Catullo), then off to the SBC Center for Sr. P's concert, the lone stop in Texas on his farewell tour. Had purchased tickets months ago, not knowing that his start time would coincide with potential H-Hour, lapse of the Prez's 48-hour ultimatum to the mad Iraqi. Emerged a couple of hours later to learn that the first attack had occurred.

Wonderful performance, mega-crowd, but sorry cramped nose-bleed seats designed to discourage subsequent purchases of "bargain" ($76) seats. Not a concern, we won't be back. Good wine, food, company and entertainment, though. Haven't seen so many warm bodies in one place since passing by the King Ranch a while back.

Did he sing "Danny Boy"? That would have been awesome.

Don't feel bad about the price. I paid $84 20 years ago to see him at Lincoln Center, NY. He was worth every penny!

The key to Mr. P's charm and power? His house wine is the Illuminati Lumen, flagship wine of my vinous Godfather Dino.....
