- hotwine - 11-03-2005 We celebrated ours at The Lodge Restaurant in San Antonio on Monday evening. D had a glass of an unknown Pinot Noir (reported to be Italian) with salmon, I had a glass of St Francis cab with BEEF tenderloin, unknown vintage. Good pairings, and since we had a good 25 miles to drive home, a single glass each was adequate. Fixed price menu, with choice of four appetizers, four salads, four entrees, four desserts, and four wines by the glass. $40 per, with a $10 premium for the BEEF. Very nice (burp). The St Francis seems to run about $16 locally, and it's not bad at all as a house wine; at least it tastes like a cab, and the pours were generous. How'd we make it to the 30th? Have no idea. Seems like last month we were working out the arrangements for a simple ceremony to be held at Kensington Town Hall, London, with a Royal Navy couple as witnesses. What a wonderful trip this has been. - TheEngineer - 11-03-2005 Congratulations on the 30 years and the journey that you two have both been on. Best wishes for many many many more to come! - Kcwhippet - 11-03-2005 Thirty years! Congratulations to you both, Gil! It's entirely possible we may have actually run by each other back then. I believe I was in that area at that same time. - winoweenie - 11-04-2005 My Heartiest Gil Buddy. The 1st 30 are definayely the hardest. All downstream from here. WW - Innkeeper - 11-04-2005 Hearty congrats from here too. Sounds like a great way to spend the three oh. - hotwine - 11-04-2005 Thanks, guys. - wondersofwine - 11-04-2005 Congrats on your 30th. (My parents celebrated their 25th in London some years back. My sister, her husband and I gave a party for them on their 30th at the country club--golf, swimming, tennis--that they belonged to at the time.) Your dinner sounds quite reasonably priced for including the wines. - Bucko - 11-04-2005 Amazing what some women will put up with! 31 years here. - dananne - 11-04-2005 Congratulations on a wonderful milestone! Sounds like a great evening! - Thomas - 11-04-2005 In a few weeks, 32 years here. Hotsie, sounds like a good celebration. The question is: what will you do for the sixtieth??? - hotwine - 11-04-2005 Foodster, since I would be well into my nineties at that point.... who cares? I certainly won't. - Thomas - 11-05-2005 Gruel and Grenache or Pablum (sp) and Pauillac to keep those uppers from breaking... - Georgie - 11-07-2005 Congratulations to a wonderful couple! I'm so happy to have met you both in January! I raise my diet soda to you! - hotwine - 11-07-2005 Thanks, Georgie. Sorry 'bout the diet soda. Let's see.... gruel and Grenache.... or applesauce & Champagne (through a straw). Whatever.... I'd have to gum it to death, for sure. - Glass_A_Day - 11-08-2005 Haven't been around in a bit so a belated happy happy to you both!!! - winedope1 - 11-08-2005 congrats as well , Hotwine!!
