to quote a Dunkin Donuts commercial that airs around here. Actually today we're experiencing 103 with a heat index of 115 here at the beach. It's just no fun, and the hotel guests are as crabby as if it was raining. The only relief is to go float in the ocean and not come out until dinnertime! Last night I watched the Mets vs the Marlins in Miami and it was 15 degrees cooler there than in NY. Can't wait until autumn. You can keep this stuff. How's everybody else doing?

Heat finally broke here in Madison today...
Had been upper 90s and with index in the 100s, but today's high is just 85.
I don't have AC at home, so the upper 90's days were really rough, especially on my dog.

That said, people up here in Wisconsin are the biggest whiners. I guess they're not used to summer heat like this, but it's about the same as what I am used to in St. Louis.

Hopefully these slightly cooler temps will move Eastward for all of you!

Normal summer temps here.... low 100's. Likely to persist until late September. Hang in there, grl.

Admit to ducking into the winecellar when working outside... have a stool in there right in front of the chiller, along with a few bottles of springwater. Helps a lot.

You might remeber that the owners of the hotel I work in each summer are from San Antonio. Some of the Texas relatives are here at the moment and they can't wait to go back to Texas where it's cooler! The cellar sounds divine...

triple digits here too!!

102 here in Ocean City Maryland with a 110 index. Too hot to even go out on the boat. Went shopping with Eileen and her friend in air conditioning. Also visited 3 wine shops As a side note, I went out on the deck overlooking the water to grill some jerk pork tenderloins. The built in grill thermometer registered 160...and I hadn't even fired up the grill!!!

It was 102 here about 45 minutes ago here. There's a cold front with thunder storms coming through and it's dropped to 90 already!

- Innkeeper - 08-02-2006

We just got home after having been out most of the day in our A/Cd vehicle. The powa had been out, and when it came back on it threw the breaker on the house A/C. So it was 95 out and 85 in. Things getting back to normal now. Grandkids are in the pool and we are grilling burgers tonight and I'm drinking Shipyard Summer Ale!

- Kcwhippet - 08-02-2006

Well, that was interesting. The big thunder cell just came through, dumped a bunch of water, flicked the lights a few times and has gone by. The temp is now 76.

Living hell I tell you -- 78 degrees today and we'll be baking at 80 degrees tomorrow. Is there no God? Please send aid....

- Georgie - 08-03-2006

Bucko, you do make me laugh...enjoy your unbearable heat wave, you stinker.

Hey IK,

Since you actually enjoy an ale every once in a while, try this on for size:

Nice article Scoop. Is that what you are doing for a living these days?

- Scoop - 08-04-2006

Partially, IK -- haven't given up the day job yet!

Cheers,
