Anyone watch the Oil for Food Hearings this morning? The senator from MN was severely outclassed by the MP from Britain. I have no idea of the fact in this case but the rhetorical skill, historical reference, humor and wonderful accent (he sounded Scottish) of the Brit just killed. All the networks went live in the middle of their other shows as it was just great theater.

In a way it reminded me of Pacino as Michael Corleone in the Godfather II at his Senate hearing (and the famous Howard Hughes showdown).

If we had politicians like this guy the Mayoral race here in LA would not be decided by 12% of the eligible voters.

I caught it very early AM surfing, couldn't sleep, and found it sooo entertaining that never got back to bed. I think he shook the Senator as he was "Out of the Gate" with bridled emotion and stood his ground speaking to the issue. I watch a lot of Senate and Congressional hearings and have noticed a trend with many of the politicians of speaking down to those testifying with aggressive and "nasty" remarks...I'm surprised that someone hasn't told one of them to go "F" themselves. BTW, what's the feeling toward the new Mayor?

I live in Santa Monica not LA proper so it is academic for me. I must say that Antonio has not much charisma or personality either but compared to Jim Hahn (evidently one of the walking dead) he is John Kennedy, Martin Luther King and Robin Williams all rolled into one.

He spouted all this blather about education in his campaign but the school system here is COMPLETELY autonomous and the mayor couldn't fire a transvestite janitor for abusing gerbils at a pep rally let alone change class sizes.

I am seriously thinking of making "George Galloway for President" T-shirts....
