Hopefully you were fortunate enough to watch the Idaho vs. Bowling Green game Thurs nite. This hummer without a doubt would raise the blood pressure of even Bucko. Non-stop action from theopening kickoff. What would be the chances that with 18 seconds to go and your team trailing 42-35 and you're on your own 30 yd. line you could win this sucker? I gave it three...Slim, None, and the Chinamans. On the 1st play the Idaho qtr-back drops back, eludes 3 tacklers, rears back and throws it as far as he can..the receiver sandwiched between 3 Greenies goes up and somehow comes down with the ball. Idaho calls its' last timeout with 8 seconds to go. Lo and behold again with 3 defenders on him the receiver catches the bloomin' ball on the goal line as time expires. The Idaho coach decides he'll either win or lose this hummer then and there and by the grace of the lucky grand Poo-Bah in the sky they score a 2 pernt conversion to win the bloomin' game. I was so completely exhausted watchin this unbelievable ending so much it took me 14 seconds to get the glass to me lips..... OK!!! Guess you needed to be there. We've decided that the college games are way better than the pros!

When Tom Osborne was Nebraska's football coach he also went for the two-point conversion and a win (against Miami) rather than a tie, and we lost the game, costing us a national title that year. Hard to second guess. I enjoyed Nebraska's 33-0 victory over Arizona in the Holiday Bowl. (Arizona was predicted to win by a slight margin.) Sportcasters said that Nebraska should be ranked in the top ten at the start of next season (but we still need a reliable quarterback.)

Looking forward to getting Suh for the Rams and away from the Huskers next year

Yeah, those college teams always playing their hearts out trying for the wins, beats the pros hands down even if I don't have a favorite to root for; but really. who thought Thursday the best nite for the "championship" game. No matter which coast, afternoon or late night...Thursday?

I missed this post a few days ago, but that Idaho game was something else. That state must be happy tonight, as Boise just won a stellar Fiesta Bowl. That team just doesn't get enough respect. Watching that improbable Idaho game the other night reminded me of that wonderful Boise-Oklahoma bowl a few years ago. Hook and lateral, statue-of-liberty, etc. They were at it again tonight with a fake punt.

All of this year's bowls were just fun and games leading up to Thursday night. Roll Tide! Hopefully my alma mater can pull it out against Texas.

I watched the second half of the Boise State--TCU game. That was exciting and not really determined until the last minute of play. I think Alabama has the edge in the championship game because of their stellar defense but I'm pulling for the Big Twelve team (also because Nebraska almost defeated Texas so if the Longhorns could pull off a victory, that would speak well for Nebraska's final ranking.) Nebraska had heartbreaker losses against both Virginia Tech and Texas even though the offense sputtered in both games. The defense was good enough to come within two minutes of a victory at Virginia Tech and one second of a victory against Texas!
