- Innkeeper - 12-12-2004 The party wines this year are: 2002 Las Rocas Garnacha and 2003 Yalumba Unwooded Chardonnay; both are $11. They are not only very nice wines, but the uninitiated love them! - winoweenie - 12-12-2004 I've decided on the Terrazos Malbec and the Carmen Chard. Both tasty lil' buggers. WW - hotwine - 12-12-2004 Louis Valbray Saumur and maybe a Crianza.... - Glass_A_Day - 12-12-2004 Anything by Columbia Crest. They are the Yellow Tail of the US market. I haven't found an unpleasent one among them. - zenda2 - 12-12-2004 Jadot Beaujolais-Villages '03, Woodbridge Zin + various Columbia Crest SW's. - wondersofwine - 12-13-2004 Family party--thinking of taking to my sister's house in Iowa a Kay Brothers Hillside Shiraz and possibly 2001 Willowbrook Owl Ridge Pinot Noir, Russian River. (The Pinot Noir could change). Two wines that were popular with a group composed mostly of those who don't regularly drink wine--Charles Wiffen Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand and the Marsannay Rose (from Pinot Noir Grapes), Burgundy. - stevebody - 12-15-2004 San Telmo Malbec. How often do you get to talk about complexity in a $6 wine? Also Teifenbrunner Chard, even though I don't usually drink Chard, because it's UNOAKED and delicious and not expensive. Also have to throw in Charles Smith's House Red, a tremendous QPR wine, and, as always, the Seghesio Sonoma Zin. - Innkeeper - 03-29-2005 Picked up another '03 Yalumba, Unwooded, Chardonnay at Jason's in Ellicott City ($9.99) on our last trip. Popped it tonight with a roasted chicken stuffed with chopped apples and onions tossed with dry tarragon, coated with butter mixed with more tarragon, and roasted in a bag (remember that!). It (the chicken) and the Chard where simply wonderful. Spring is coming sometime! - TheEngineer - 04-14-2005 I agree on the 2002 Las Roches. For my white, the 2003 Dr. Loosen (the one in the screw top) at $9.99 is a great wine! |
