I had all smiles when I read this note from Jim Murray in the Whisky Bible (2007).

"Tasting note:

Nose: Youthful, with myriad citrus notes trying to outdazzle the gathering peat; shows great subtlety and fun;

Taste: Refreshing, with the barley insisting on behaving half the age it actually is. The smoke appears lethargic but grows into a spicy crescendo;

Finish: Lots of vanilla amid the dusty malt; lots of coffe fudge to balance the smoke;

Balance; the best bottling yet with complexity a byword here."

I can just imagine the Irish accent in those words!!!

Seems more appropriate to a scotch tasting than an Irish whiskey. Being dearly fond of both elixirs....

That Connemara 12 is really tasty. It's amazing that so much really good Irish whiskey is coming out of only three distilleries.
