Living on a very friendly Brooklyn block, we had a good time sitting out on the stoop with our landlords and their kids, passing out candy. The depressing part of the evening was the last group of trick-or-treaters: several girls who looked to be about 14 or 15 pushing baby strollers. The babies were cute, but these moms weren't collecting for their kids, they were doing it for themselves.

well- the night was pretty good- had about 150 little visitors. My guy scared the beejeebers out of some of them by jumping out from behind the door and yelling- waving a bloody pirate knife. All of them loved it. Finished the evening with a light chicken stew and local chardonnay from Newport Vineyards and a bottle of Mionetto Prosecco with pate and crackers later on. Nice weather and no eggs or TP on the house. (we gave out good candy) WD

We didn't get very many at all - most of the ones who used to come are growing up and in our neighborhood there hasn't been a lot of turnover. Judy's not complaining because she gets the leftovers, since her mother doesn't eat chocolate and I'm allergic to caffeine. Anyway, we had a light chicken dish with a wonderful Dolcetto from Acorn. If you haven't tried wines from this winery, check them out at www.acornwinery.com. Their Dolcetto is at a vintage end sale for $14.50 and they have a terrific Sangiovese (go figure) for $16 - plus a few others. IK would like the QPR. Also, they ship anywhere.
