Wine Spectator! Another world class wine bargain down the drain. (/thread-12939.html) |
- Bucko - 01-09-1999 I paid $35 a bottle for 1996 Baumard Quarts du Chaume. Spectator hypes the hell out of it and guess what the future price is now for the 97? $70 a bottle. Another world class bargain down the tubes. These Top 100 lists do wine consumers a diservice IMHO. Bucko - hncjc - 01-12-1999 That is truly distressing. Who is selling Baumard futures already? Do you know when the wine will be released? - Bucko - 01-12-1999 BLM (Brookline). Release date unknown. Bucko - hncjc - 01-12-1999 Thanks. I know that the 95 and 96 (I paid about $17 per 1/2 bottle for the 1996) were severely underpriced relative to comparable German wines and Sauternes, but, I do wish at least one wine that I love would stay that way. Other Quarts de Chaume and Coteaux du Layon that I have tasted are not in the same class as Baumard. The only Chenins that I have had that are in his class are the Vouvrays from Foreau and Huet, and they (particularly Huet) are expensive. - Bucko - 01-12-1999 Have you tried the wines from Pierre Bise? These are pretty darn nice. Bucko - hncjc - 01-13-1999 No. I will have to try his wines. |
