Time to break out some bubbly...I put in a tough year with this group and not a tear did I shed as those buses pulled away! One of the worst in the class gave me a bottle of wine as a thank you gift. His family probably figured my supply was low after dealing with HIM!

Foodie, it was a carafe of Paul Masson rose. I guess the carafe will make a decent vase...Gene, I think the same thing could happen in NJ, although I'm not sure what the laws are. The thought of wine in school reminds me of a time when I was to attend an after school wedding shower for a colleague. Whatever dish I'd chosen to bring had wine in the recipe. I remember cooking it in the back of the room while the kids were at a special and hoping to heaven I wouldn't get caught with an open bottle of wine in the classroom!
And I guess I'm not as tough as I thought I was. When I came home and opened the rest of my gifts and read the very touching notes from parents and students, I did tear up. I had 22 perfect kids....only three baddies..but oh, those three!

However, this also means that I've been doing the summer camp for 3-6 year olds for the last two weeks [img]http://wines.com/ubb2/frown.gif[/img]
I, too, got some wine this year. One parent worked for an Atlanta area wine distributor, and he brought me several bottles of sherry. He's now starting his own wine label from purchased grapes in Lodi and Paso Robles, and he's giving me some of it, as well.
I had 11 in a multi-age middle school group this year. A good group of kids this time around -- felt lucky.

I am hard at work, cough cough, at the hotel at the moment. We're undergoing renovations and there are no guests coming in until tomorrow night. That's why I have time to be on the board and to be bored. Wish I'd have brought a book! Summer camp for 3-6 year-olds? Just shoot me.

Brave? Possibly. Patient? Unquestionably! A piece of advice for anyone who has never worked with a 3-year old: Never ask them a "why" question.
Actually, the camp allows me to meet payroll, pay rent, utilities, etc. during the summer months. I work the program along with a co-director to avoid having to hire staff for the summer. Purely economic -- though I'd still prefer a real summer [img]http://wines.com/ubb2/smile.gif[/img]
